 What is Ivan Chai? Fermented fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) tea with an interesting history, long traditions and an invigorating effect.

Our fireweed plants are foraged from the wild and ecologically pure nature of Haanimaa. We have a unique preparation method that is inspired by traditions: hand-rolled fireweed leaves and flowers are fermented and dried using solar energy and left to age for 4 months.

Different Ivan Chai teas can taste rather differently. This is largely due to the preparation technique. But the uniqueness of every Ivan Chai is also determined by its place of growth (the soil, the weather and the surrounding flora and fauna) and the specific microorganisms that are found on the hands of the maker, in the air and on the plants. The microorganisms are the ones that through fermentation transform the otherwise one-dimensional taste of fireweed leaves into a rich and aromatic herbal tea. A tea with floral, fruity and deep flavour notes.

Can be enjoyed throughout the day. Ivan Chai is a great substitute for coffee and tea. While being caffeine-free, it offers an equally satisfying taste experience as well as an energising effect.
